The Inertia

Fall and winter are very special seasons here on the East Coast. Typically, we receive the largest, most consistent swells during these months. Surfers from New Jersey and the surrounding states have a very different outlook on surfing. When we think of surfing, images of palm trees and tropical weather aren’t exactly the first things that come to mind. It’s snowstorms, sub-zero temperatures, and 5mm wetsuits. It takes a certain mindset and a lot of determination to surf when the air and water are hanging around 30 °F. If you are willing to overcome the adverse elements, New Jersey delivers waves that rival most places. Here are several images taken from the incredible run of swells we received this past fall and winter.
