I teach digital media, and recently a student asked to do some animation for his final project. I have never really done animation, but I wanted the kid to go for it. In order to teach him I started to mess around with the medium. I started off tracing with Photoshop and then switched to Illustrator. I got pretty into it and spent way too much time on it. The surfers I chose all have very distinctive styles and are all on single fins. Barry McGee starts it off, but he was actually the last surfer I animated and I looked at a couple different videos of him surfing. Billy Death’s ride from the drone video at Rincon a few months ago is in there and then Michael Peterson surfing Kirra. Rights and single fins!
