The first big swell of the season just hit Nazaré. There’s been a ton of swell in the Atlantic Ocean this fall, but so far, none of it had produced the XL-sized surf that has big wave pros from around the world flocking to the Portuguese fishing village.
That ended recently, as ex-hurricane Martin, the seventh hurricane of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, became an extratropical storm, staying strong as it moved north, and sent giant surf towards the European coastline. Those waves touched down last night, producing a giant evening session at Nazaré. Local chargers and international pros were out in force.
