Nazaré is home to some very, very big waves. Because of a deep water trench called the Nazaré Canyon, the energy of huge swells is funneled and magnified directly towards the tiny fishing village. And a few days ago, it absolutely erupted, throwing some of the biggest waves the surf world has ever seen at the coast of Portugal. And of course, there were a few madmen there to tame the beast.
