Back in 2018, when international travel was still a thing, Nathan Florence took a trip. A trip to Mexico, where a rather large swell was pointing itself at Puerto Escondido. It’s a place Nathan Florence has surfed a lot, and it’s a place that Nathan Florence loves. He, along with his family, has been traveling there since he was young. “It’s been a place of many firsts,” he says. “The birthplace of the mullet. My first backside barrel. My first barrel on a board that considered a gun.”
The waves there, of course, get very big and very heavy, which is exactly the kind of waves that Nathan Florence loves. This particular trip, though, turned out to be something pretty special: it was the best Puerto Nathan has ever surfed. According to him, at least. Here’s hoping he gets to surf it when it’s even better sometime soon.
