Nathan Florence is focusing a lot on aerial surfing right now. He has been for a quite a while — air camp and all that — and it’s very clear that practice does, in fact, work. The problem with aerial surfing is that the ramp is always changing and the number of times you get to try a certain maneuver is never a sure thing. But if you’re like Nathan, you take whatever you can get and make the best of it.
Since it’s summer and it’s south-swell season, Nathan headed off in search of a grand adventure. A little novelty wave that usually doesn’t produce too much in the way of amazing waves. But “amazing waves” depends entirely on what you think of as amazing… in other words, if you’re looking for a little novelty wave that doesn’t produce too much in the way of amazing waves… well, that wave becomes amazing. Weird, right?
“Don’t expect much out of this session,” Nate said as they were driving. “The cool thing is, it’s one of those waves where you can just play around like a skate park. Launch all around, try some flips.”
And try some flips he did. His highest attempt so far, according to him. And while it wasn’t a make, the attempt itself is pretty dang impressive.
