Chile has a whopping 4,000 miles of coastline. In that seemingly endless expanse of South American surf is a goofy footer’s dream, with nearly every break a rifling left. Being the globe-trotting adventurer that he is, freesurfer and YouTuber Nathan Florence recently went on a strike mission to check out those waves in the land of the Andes, as documented in his most recent video blog.
The trip, Florence’s first to the region, is part of a South American tour of sorts. The excursion came fresh off a Brazilian expedition that included a visit to The Shock, followed by some fun and games with Lucas ‘Chumbo’ Chianca. In addition to his regular entourage who came along from Brazil, Nathan was joined this time by his brother Ivan, who had been snowboarding in the Andes.
What they found were expansive vistas, sloping lefts, and a boatload of sea urchin to feast on. Check it out in the video below.
