The severity of a beat down is tied directly to the type of wave a person is surfing. Nathan Florence undergoes very severe beat downs. So it stands to reason that he enjoys surfing a certain type of wave: one that comes with a certain level of consequence.
Nathan Florence totally owned free surfing in 2022. He did so by being someone who enjoys filming while undergoing those severe beat downs. He does it because we enjoy watching. We enjoy living vicariously through him, holding our breath as he’s pummeled by wave after monstrous wave. And recently, he posted a POV clip of a few very hectic beat downs at Riley’s, a slab on the west coast of Ireland that will kick your ass just as quick as it’ll give you the wave of your life.
