The East Coast hurricane season technically runs from June through November. This year it got a bit of a late start. However, September has seen a ton of storm activity, and it doesn’t look like things are letting up anytime soon as Hurricane Ian bears down on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Hurricane season always comes with mixed feelings, as the storms which produce the best time of year for surfing on the East Coast often leave a trail of devastation in their wake. This year is no different. Hurricane Fiona hit Puerto Rico and Canada hard, but brought solid surf up and down the U.S. East Coast. Nate Florence stopped over in New York to sample the goods, and in between beatdowns was able to find a few gems.
