Nate Florence surfing Lance's Right

The Inertia

Nate Florence is a big fan of surfing waves that want to kill him. One cannot, however, surf solely waves that want to kill you, so every now and then, Nate will make his way to something a little more tame than say, Jaws or Mullaghmore or any other giant/shallow wave. And recently, he headed to Lance’s Right, known also as HT’s or Hollow Trees.

Lance’s Right is a stupidly good wave. It wraps around the south end of Sipura Island making its way into an idyllic sheltered bay. There, it hits a reef known as The Office before unloading onto another shallower section called the Surgeon’s Table. While it’s not a thunderous slab with a lip as thick as the wave is deep, it isn’t exactly a wave for beginners.

In Nate’s latest YouTube offering, he spends a bit of time at Bilou before waving goodbye and hopping on a boat to Lance’s Right. On arrival, it was immediately clear that it was absolutely going off, and they made quick work of readying themselves for a session that sent Nate over the Surgeon’s Table, broke a board, and generally had about as much fun as one can have on a surfboard.
