These are just a few glimpses of life inside a Scottish winter sanitarium. I was living in my van, testing out some wetsuits, full grips, leashes and other products I’ve been developing. All the waves in this video are riding four and five fin set ups on a self-designed signature Lunasurf fin template – a progressive template for all conditions.
I have been working on this fin template for a while now, which was released just this week and produced by Futures. I’ve been riding them in everything from Jersey slop on my fish or high-performance shortboard, all the way up to my step up boards in draining barrels.
The derelict house is a project my friend has in renovation, so I used it to store some boards, stretch my legs, cook, make some coffee and hang out by the fire at night. Ironically, it was actually colder inside that building (especially the upstairs) than outside, where it is dark by 4 pm. You could walk out the front door and hot air would hit you. Meanwhile, inside, wind would blow through the walls, which is why you see doors propped up around the fire area, doing its best to keep the heat in.
