As the Challenger Series is drawing to a close, surfers are securing their spots on the Championship Tour for next year. For the women, current Challenger Series leader Macy Callaghan secured her spot on the CT a couple of days ago and was recently joined by Caity Simmers and Molly Picklum.
Simmers and Picklum went head to head at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro with Simmers ultimately coming away victorious. At the EDP Vissla Pro Ericeira she finished second to Macy Callaghan but the 7,800 points she earned greatly contributed to her qualifying.
Picklum locked in 7,800 points in her runner-up finish to Simmers at Snapper. At the Ballito Pro, Picklum had a dominate performance, ultimately securing the win. Last year, Simmers qualified for the CT but ended up declining the spot and opted for another year on the CS. Will the women accept their hard-earned spots? We shall see.
