Miguel x Killer Fish is a short movie filmed during some of the most fun, spring days in Portugal, from North to South, on a fish developed by Miguel Blanco and old school shaper Lipe Dylong. “Surfing for me, has always been way more than just the usual high-performance arena and that’s why we came up with the idea of creating an alternative design that would be super fun ridding and drawing some different lines, but still be killer for performance as well,” says Miguel, who’s Killer Fish model is obviously featured above. “I think it took us 6 or 7 boards to be 100 percent happy with all the adjustments we made.”
Blanco is one of Portugal’s most respected surfers right now. At 23, he’s the current Portuguese National Champ and, in my opinion, one of the next European standouts. He was the only Portuguese shredder in the now-infamous “Monumental Swell” at Nias, where he ended up making the cover of SURFER magazine. He’s a rising star both from a progressive surfing approach and also chasing slabs when it gets big. Already super-well traveled, Miguel is making a name for himself and represents the future of his Portuguese generation.
