In late April, Australia’s Gold Coast was on fire. In a good way, of course. The waves along that fabled stretch of coastline were hit by multiple back-to-back swells, and Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, and Dean “Dingo” Morrison were, as usual, there to drink from that overflowing cup.
After the ocean quieted down a bit, the folks over at Red Bull thought they’d give Mick a call to chat about the stretch of insanely good waves. They used that conversation to score the 4-ish minute short you see above.
“We think you’ll agree it explains the crazy visuals perfectly,” the Red Bull team wrote. “From the incredible waves to the wild wipeouts and the celebrated surfers in the water to the sheer volume of humans in general, Mick was candid and engaging.”
