Congratulations to Mick Fanning for a hard-earned victory at Supertubos in Peniche, Portugal. Despite having to surf an exhausting six times on the final day, Fanning proved to be an absolute terror as he took down several fierce competitors, including last year’s champion Kai Otton. The clutch Round 4 victory over Felipe Toledo and Kai Otton launched Fanning into the Quarter Finals where he would face Toledo for the second time. With seven minutes left and needing a score to advance, Fanning locked in a 9.57 for one of the cleanest barrels of the contest and sent Toldeo packing. Fanning wasted no time in the Final with Jordy Smith. Locking in a 9.00 point ride for an incredible backside tube put Jordy Smith in a combo situation which resulted in the victory for Fanning. In addition to Slater and Medina going down in Round 3, his third victory of this season puts Fanning one step (10,000 points) closer to winning another world title at Pipe.
