In early July, the Superbank lived up to its name. It was a bank, certainly, and it was super, even more certainly. Kirra went off in the way that only Kirra can.
The Gold Coast produces a lot of really good surfers — Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Jack Freestone, to name a few — and it’s because the waves there are world class. So too is the surfing, and part of that is the fact that you’ve got to battle really good surfers for really good waves. The cream of the crop rises to the top. And when Kirra is in the form it was in recently, all that cream is certainly going to be there. Mysurf.tv pointed a camera at the famed break and caught Mick Fanning, Nick Vasicek, Bede Durbidge, and a whole lot more scoring a day they won’t soon forget.
