Mason Ho surfing Ala Moana Bowls

I am not a parent (yet). I imagine, though, that one of the greatest pleasures a surfing parent can have is surfing with their children, especially if that parent is Michael Ho, a man who is firmly embedded in the annals of surfing history. His children, of course, are Coco and Mason, and they do indeed spend a lot of time in the water together, as any good surfing family should do.

Recently, Michael and Mason Ho — as well as a few friends — headed to the South Shore for a session at Ala Moana.

It’s “a place where Uncle Mike’s been taking Mason surfing since he was a kid,” the video’s description reads. “Ala Moana is also a spot where Uncle Mike surfed as a kid. Ala Moana is roots!”

Even better than the fact that both Michael and Mason are incredible surfers who have Bowls about as dialed as a wave can be dialed, is the fact that the bond between the two is obvious. And ain’t that a grand thing?
