Are you looking for a quick break from Surf Ranch coverage, or maybe just an amuse bouche before you go back to frothing about how wave pools are going to destroy life as we know it? NobodySurf has got what you need: a 46-minute highlight reel from Mexi Log Fest 2023.
Mexi Log fest is week-long surf invitational in La Saladita, Mexico. As you may have gathered from the name, it has traditional single-fin longboarding competitions at its heart. There’s a lot more going on, though. Between watching sweeping turns and cheater fives, there’s yoga workshops, sound baths, surfboard shaping, and live music. They also added time to “fiesta” right there in the schedule, in case you forgot.
When it comes to surf coverage, a lot of it can sound oddly violent. Words like carve, rip, hack, and slash are used to describe a shortboarder’s art, as if they’re physically taking apart a wave. You’ll get none of that here. Instead, go watch these men and women gracefully glide their way along, in tune with some pristine Mexican waves.
