As a cinematographer for more than 15 years, I’ve met a lot of people from all over the world. This short film series I’ve created, called LifePlan, is about artists, musicians, riders, people I’ve met in my travels who have an interesting story to tell. For example, Sasha Golyanova is an ex-police drug officer from Russia who went on to become an amazing water photographer now based in Indonesia.
“I was a head of a group, I was a public face, I was on TV,” she says about the life she left behind in Sochi. In 2013, Sasha enjoyed her first season of snowboarding after joining the Winter Olympic project. And when all the snow melted that next spring, she was inspired to start surfing. Five years later, she’s now living and working in Indonesia. Here, she shares how she got there.
