The Inertia

Matt Biolos has shaped a lot of surfboards. In doing so, he’s created a brand that has in turn shaped surfing’s trajectory. He’s not afraid to speak his mind, either. The San Clemente local has worked with some of the greatest surfers in the world, from Nathan and Christian Fletcher, to Andy Irons, Cory Lopez, Kolohe Andino, and Carissa Moore. …Lost has always felt like it has a bit of an anti-hero mentality. Despite the fact that the brand has a stacked list of pros on the team and is a full-fledged apparel business, too, Biolos has worked hard to ensure that …Lost doesn’t lose its edge.

Biolos is a man of many talents. At the age of 13, he started building his own snowboards, and he’s been riding snow for even longer. He’s a good surfer and an even better shaper. All that knowledge from riding fun things in fun places are just part of what makes him such a good interview.

The World Surf League called him up to talk about… well, pretty much everything. In this long-running installment of The Lineup, Biolos gets into a whole lotta stuff, including his thoughts about wave pools and the upcoming event at the Surf Ranch.
