You’re probably aware that a new SNAPT film is on the horizon. It’ll be the last of them, sadly, but if history is anything to judge by, SNAPT5 is going to be really, really good. The SNAPT films are so legendary because they are unapologetic surf porn. No story, no soulful narration about connectedness. Just straight up surfing from surfers who absolutely rip. Surfers like Mason Ho.
It’s hard to miss with the cast that Logan Dulien put together, but part of making a really great surf film is collecting hours and hours of footage. Footage from all over the place. Thousands of hours of it, all pared down into the final product that is nothing but the best clips out of what’s sure to be a whole lot of really, really good clips. And luckily, Mason Ho is giving us a little glimpse into some of the stuff that was left on the cutting room floor.
In the video above, Mason is joined by Parker Coffin, Zacky Taylor, and Taro Watanabe at the Palm Springs Surf Club in Palm Springs, Calif. Whatever your thoughts about wave pools are, it’s impossible to deny that the surfing they do in this one is pretty next level.
