The Inertia

By now, you’ve probably seen at least one installment of Mason’s Medieval Madness. It’s a multi-part series that, so far, has focussed heavily on a slab that he first surfed a long, long time ago. Breaking over what looks to be about an inch of water, it’s not a wave that, to the Average Joe, looks surfable. But to Mason’s practiced eye — and with Mason’s practiced skillset — it’s not just surfable, it’s downright amazing. He met up with Irish legend Gearoid Mcdaid, owner of what could the most Irish name ever, as well as a bagful of slab surfing skills.

It’s a weird wave, one that grows as it goes. Up until now, it hasn’t seemed like anything all that special, but it appears that Mason found it on a particularly good day. Howling offshores and a bump in swell turned the wave into exactly what Mason knew it could be all those years ago, and we’re here for it.
