The Inertia

Mason Ho’s backyard is a pretty decent playground. Seven miraculous miles, all stretched out his back door. Soft sand that squeaks underfoot like nowhere else on Earth. Waves piled up the horizon, marching unrelentingly towards reef shelves that form the foundation of the best surf in the world. As we said, it’s a decent playground. One of the best pieces of playground equipment is Velzyland, which, if we’re being honest, might be the wave most perfectly suited to Mason’s impossible-to-duplicate brand of surfing. It appears that Mason knows the wave much like he knows the lines of his own face in the mirror.

In the first few weeks of November, as the crowds began to return in preparation for the North Shore winter, Mason scored his beloved wave. He took a 5’4″ …Lost Rad Ripper out, which isn’t exactly a surfboard made for the kind of waves on offer that day. But he’s Mason Ho, so he made it work just fine.
