The Inertia

The North Shore of Oahu isn’t exactly known as a summertime wave magnet. Come late fall, people start to filter into its lineups until everything reaches a climax in December that sustains itself for a while. There’s excitement. Bikes fill the path up and down Ke Nui Road, parking spots are at a premium along Kam Highway, and of course, there are waves. Everywhere.

One would have you believe those hectic winter months along the North Shore are balanced out by quiet, calm summers, where all those waves vanish with the crowds. And there are probably a lot of people who want the world to keep living with that illusion.

Now, we’re not saying the place just lit up like a Christmas tree this summer but apparently, Mason Ho has no qualms with showing the world North Shore summers aren’t one endless flat spell.
