2025 is officially here. However, before we get on to our hopes and dreams for this year, there’s still some time to reminisce about the past 12 months. Thanks to a newly-released 2024 highlight reel from Mason Ho, you can do all of that in one glorious 57-minute installment.
For someone like Mason, compiling a year-end highlight reel must be a particularly arduous process. The man is simply a clip-producing machine, with an embarrassment of riches when it comes to possible inclusions for such an edit. Aside from his own ongoing work, Ho also spent 2024 filming his contributions to the upcoming Snapt5, which requires its entire roster of surfers to keep all clips from their segment off of social media. Honestly, his cutting room floor probably could be a worthy highlight reel unto itself and we still have Ho’s crème de la crème to look forward to when Snapt5 finally comes out. Luckily, though, he and collaborator Rory Pringle put in the work and cobbled together the best of their best. In their characteristic style, the video rapidly careens through a variety of waves, locations, and oddball music choices.
We already knew it, but it’s nice to have a reminder of just how good a year it was for surfing – and something to get us frothing for what’s in store.
