Mason Ho is about as fun to watch surf as anybody else in the world. Heavy tubes, wave pools, and even the smallest days on the North Shore all look like an adventure anytime you point a camera at the guy, or just hand him a GoPro. Take this North Shore wave, for example, where he’s shown himself dodging the reef plenty of times before.
The POV footage gets hypnotic at times. It’s not really the slow motion or the small glassy tubes that do it, it’s the shift from viewing it all coming out of a barrel and then watching Ho immediately kick out and dive under the surface. There, you really get a feel for how packed the North Shore’s reefs are, even at a small wave like this one.
Watch and enjoy. Ding repair shops would enjoy the most thriving economy in the entire world if most of us tried this.
