The Inertia

When most people think of the North Shore, they think of waves. They think of Pipeline, Sunset, and Waimea. The Seven Mile Miracle is, after all, perhaps the best stretch of sand on earth when it comes to good waves. But in the summer, those waves disappear. The ocean becomes placid and friendly, better suited to diving and exploring the various reefs. “The North Shore is slowly becoming a lake with no waves in sight,” Ho & Pringle Productions wrote on YouTube.

But just because the waves are overhead doesn’t mean boredom needs to set it. Mason, after a few quick sessions at Val’s Reef and Slips, headed to the skatepark — but only for a bit, because the Coronavirus locked the gates. After a brief encounter with the cops, Mason, still determined not to let boredom win, called his sister, Coco. Together, they headed to a little wedge that very nearly went bad. Then, as the evening shut the door on another North Shore day, Mason went for a trail ride with dad. Pretty decent for summer on the North Shore, no?
