The Inertia

Mason Ho loves rocks. Specifically, he loves surfing around them. Usually he can be found dodging between them, like in his “dangerously fun surfing” videos, but the latest edit from the North Shore freesurfer took his passion to a whole new level.

Rather than tempting fate by surfing inches above razor-sharp obstructions, this time he tempted fate by using the aquatic hazards for some step-offs. What’s more, he brought Pipe Master, tube-hunter and New Yorker Balaram Stack along for the ride.

“Roughly a week after the Rip Curl Eddie Aikau event, Mason Ho heads back to one of his favorite places on the island,” explains the caption to the edit from Ho and Pringle. “We like to call it Mermaid Rock.”

The Disney princess-evoking name pretty much sums up Mason’s approach to surfing around potentially life-threatening hazards, and we’re here for it. Check out the rest in the video below.
