The Inertia

Summertime is generally flat on the North Shore. Gone are the swells that light up the seven-mile miracle. But summertime doesn’t mean that surfing is done for the season — it just means that surfers from the North Shore have to drive for an hour. Recently, a solid south swell pointed itself at Waikiki, and Ala Moana Bowl was smack dab in the way.

Mason Ho made sure he was there to meet it, as Ala Moana has a special place in his heart. It’s the place where his parents met while they were surfing. Since Mason had to drive all that way (jk, not far) he made sure to get his hours in: this session was four hours and 55 minutes, according to his GPS watch.

Joining him in the video you see above are Michael Ho, Derek Ho, Nathan Fletcher, Flynn Novak, Kawai Lindo, Maikai Burdine, Kainoa Kanahele, Gregg Nakamura, Warwick Wright, Aka, Sol, Conor Kennedy, and Arjuna Morgan.
