So far, the winter of 2018 hasn’t been exactly a wave-rich one. We’ve had a couple of south swells and only a few snowy moments, but like most winters, it seems that we needed to wait until spring was just around the corner. March seems to always deliver special swells, and like clockwork, Winter Storm Riley came in with full force during the first weekend. It delivered plenty of swell to the entire east coast of America. The one thing haunting us in New Jersey is the wind direction, but as the storm was exiting the coast, a little west wind snuck in with the prevailing north wind, which allowed a couple spots in New Jersey to fire.
As the weekend approached, I spoke with numerous guys about where to be. As always, I hoped that I’d be lucky enough to capture a few special moments at a few special locations, but I didn’t expect that the entire weekend was going to be one long special moment and the entire area was going to be on massive special location. Both Saturday and Sunday, the New Jersey surf community welcomed numerous out of town pros who shared the lineup with most of our homegrown pros and local rippers.
