At least since it was put on film in the Endless Summer, the pinnacle of surf travel has been walking over a hill in anticipation to reach its top and look out on a pristine reeling pointbreak with nary a soul out. But, with sophisticated surf forecasting, the accessibility of air travel, and the sheer population of surfers worldwide what they are, that possibility is becoming less likely these days. Few rocks have been left unturned in pursuit of waves, as it were.
But, secret spots do still exist, and the above is proof that juice can still be squeezed from a well-trafficked fruit (i.e. mainland Mexico). With a little faith and an intrepid 4X4 driver, the jungles of southern Mexico do contain a multitude of secrets, it seems.
