In the world of celebrity surfers, no one can quite touch Luke Davis. Sure, Medina’s a national phenom in Brazil, appearing as a television expert in male grooming. And Kolohe sold his surfer image to Visa as he ordered a pizza in the tube at Teahupoo. But Mr. Davis, or more commonly known as @lukedavisthegrey, has something the others don’t. He’s hip with the millennials; he has tattoos; he is so hot right now. And because of his widespread fame (and 97.7k Instagram followers), Luke’s sponsors have OK’d his decision to quit competition.
“I just want to get good waves now,” Luke told Stab. “I literally haven’t been barrelled in four months, and I’m starting to completely loose my mind. That’s the thing I love more than anything. I’d take a good barrelling wave over the hottest girl in the world any day.”
And his most recent edit shows his newfound life of luxury. Aptly titled “Velvet Joy,” Mr. Davis has hung up the singlet and instead focussed his energy on the finer things – like getting shacked in Indo or crowd surfing in a boat at a Steve Aoki concert.
