The hype around G-Land’s return to the tour was real, wasn’t it? The history of the place, the perfection of the wave… oh, it was going to be good. And it was good. Just not as good as it could have been.
The real kick in the pants, though, is that in the days leading up to the event, G-Land was absolutely on fire. On May 24 and 25, just three days before the WSL sounded the starting horn, G-Land was exactly as good as we all hoped it would be. Of course, most of the tour pros were there, getting their feet in the wax and feeling the place out. And though they might not remember the event for the rest of their lives, it’s likely they’ll remember the two days Nobody Surf documented.
