The Inertia

The little village of Batukaras on West Java, Indonesia, is an amazing place. For a while, while tourism was booming in the area, it felt like a reprieve from the thronging masses descending on southeast Asia’s coastal areas. It’s a bit of a surfer’s paradise, and depending on what you’re into, it’s just about perfect — especially if what you’re into is longboarding.

Unlike Lombok or Bali, it remains more of a quiet haven with incredible waves out front, and the locals there are both friendly and very good at surfing. Not far from the beach is a little beach shack called Joybells, which is where the name of the film from NobodySurf comes from.

“Joybells is the name of a really small and cool beach house that is owned by our friend Andrew, and it’s named after his mum’s nickname,” they explained on YouTube.

The film features Alvin Setiawan, Husni Ridhwan, and Deni Pirdaus doing what they do best at home, and if this doesn’t make you want to pick up longboarding, nothing will.
