The Inertia

Landock Festival, the three-day music and surf festival hosted by the Waco Surf wave pool facility, has been canceled. The announcement came in today via social media and the event’s website. Though the reason for the cancellation was not specified, organizers have promised to refund ticket holders, and hinted at the festival going forward on a later date.

“We are saddened to announce today that Landlock Festival 2024 is being canceled,” read the official announcement. “This was a difficult decision to make, but due to unforeseen circumstances, and in an effort to do right by our fans, artists, surfers and staff, the decision to cancel the event has not been taken lightly.”

The planned event was to be a three-day music festival with a lineup of over 20 bands. Meanwhile, the wave pool itself would be a venue for a concurrent surf competition featuring Brianna Cope, Emma Stone (the surfer, not the actor), Balaram Stack, Eithan Osbourne, Matt Meola, Ivy Miller, Cam Richards, Albee Layer and others. The festival was organized by the Texas event agency Noise Frontier and Rockstar Energy was the main sponsor.

Luckily for anyone who was planning on attending, the announcement also specified that those who had already bought passes to the event will be refunded for the cost of their tickets, festival add-ons and on-site accommodations. That’s good news, as the cost of a one-day pass was $150, while a three-day ticket would have set you back $325. According to Landlock, the refunds will be processed automatically within 7-10 business days, with no need for action on the part of the ticket holders.

However, this doesn’t seem to be quite the end of Landlock, at least for now. The announcement indicated that organizers are looking to bring the festival back as soon as next year. “We greatly appreciate the support from our fans, artists and surfers, gracious sponsors, staff, and our host venue, Waco Surf,” they wrote. “We hope to bring the magic of Landlock Festival to the city of Waco, our Texas community, and beyond in 2025.”
