Koa Smith has a special spot in his heart for Skeleton Bay. He’s spent more time in the tube there than just about anyone else, and despite the fact that tubes at Skeleton Bay are ridiculously long, that’s saying a lot.
When the conditions line up, Koa is almost a lock to be the first to book a ticket to Namibia. It’s not an easy place to get to, nor is it an easy wave to surf, but if you’ve got the moxie and the arm strength to launch off that lip and fight that notorious current, you’re in for quite the ride.
In the video above, Koa Smith and Benji Brand — who introduced Koa to Skeleton Bay — share their best waves from 2023. “It’s showed us a level of surfing and feeling that can’t really be found elsewhere!” Koa wrote.
