Most surfers won’t actually get to paddle out at Pipeline. Even for those who do, most won’t ever be able to jockey their way to the top of the pecking order and catch a wave on a perfect day. Koa Smith is one of those privileged few, though. Luckily, he often has a camera strapped to his head while he’s doing it.
In a new video, posted to his YouTube channel, Koa provided an eye-popping POV view of his session at firing Pipeline. If you’re among the many who hasn’t had a first-person view of the world’s most famous wave – this is one way to get it.
“Pipeline was all-time!” Koa wrote in the caption. “Eight feet of glassy perfection, insane barrels, and one of the most dreamy sunset sessions ever. As the sun dropped, the whole lineup lit up gold, turning the session into something straight out of a dream. Moments like these are what make surfing truly magical. Pure POV action from the heart of one of the heaviest waves on the planet. Hope you guys enjoy!”
