The Inertia

I’m going to assume you already have Fiji on your bucket list. Hopefully, you’ve already crossed it off, but if you haven’t, Koa Smith has kindly given the viewing public a short film explaining why every surfer should see Fiji.

Sure, every surfer won’t be able to afford to see Fiji, and it’s likely that Koa has more opportunities to see place like Fiji because of his positioning within the surf industry, but hey, those of us a little lower on the ladder can still dream, right?

“In this episode,” Koa explains, “I’m partnering with Chase Travel to find the best surf destinations around the world… from absolutely scoring firing waves at Cloudbreak — arguably the best wave in the world — to riding an ATV through not so publicized landscapes, this trip was was abundant to say the least. I got to visit the stunning Cloud9 floating bar, where I enjoyed fruity tropical cocktails, all while soaking in the beauty of Fiji’s crystal-clear waters. Whether you’re chasing epic waves or simply looking to relax in paradise, Fiji is a destination you’ll never forget.”

Of course, a surf trip to Fiji would not be a surf trip to Fiji without surfing Cloudbreak.

“”We have super favorable conditions,” Koa continues. “Light offshore winds; it’s supposed to be pretty solid. If it’s doing what I think it’s doing, this could be one of the craziest days of surfing in our lives.”

That’s saying a lot, considering the days that Koa has already experience in his life. Remember his octotube at Skeleton Bay? Or this day at Pipeline? Yeah, Koa’s got a lot of good surfing days under his belt.
