It’s been a year since we heard reports of the ridiculous swell that hit Cloudbreak in 2024. Though “all time” is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot in the surfing world, in that moment, it seemed to be truly justified. Pretty much every professional surfer lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time agreed – it would be pretty hard to top what went down.
Still, that won’t stop everyone from having a go at it. The famed Fijian break just received a run of swell that woke it from its slumber once again. And some pretty talented surfers happened to be there to take on the challenge. Nathan Florence already posted an insane four-hour edit of the proceedings, and the latest dispatch comes courtesy of Koa Smith.
“A positive Trauma!” exclaimed Smith in the caption to his latest video. “Swell bender hits Cloudbreak! When Cloudbreak turns on its one of the dreams of a surfer and we scored multiple days and many conditions of this mythical beast! From oil glass to pumping offshore winds!…As the swell arrived we started getting caught in the impact zone, breaking boards and having to walk barefoot over the razor sharp reef! This trip will be burnt into my memory forever!”
