The anticipation and drama leading up to The Eddie made it easy to forget that the Pipe Masters just happened a few weeks ago. As a helpful reminder, though, Hawai’ian freesurfer Koa Smith just posted a video with a multi-angle recap of one incredible 30-point ride he scored during the competition.
In the caption to the edit, Smith proudly declares the ride “the best wave I’ve ever surfed at Pipeline.” Watching it from various angles, in glorious slow motion, no less, it’s hard to argue otherwise.
“The wave itself was so intense, it was a moment of pure flow and deep connection,” he continued. “When I came out, the sound from the crowd roared like I was a gladiator in the colosseum! So much energy was moving through me, all my dreams, all the work I put into myself it all came together! It felt like a direct gift from The One. A nod of keep going, we see you, we love you!”
“I ended up scoring a PERFECT 30-point ride!! A moment I will never forget! Because this special ride was in a contest it was captured by so many beautiful perspectives. I wanted to make a compilation of my favorite angles of this massive, brutal, gift from Pipeline! Enjoy!”
