The Inertia

So far this winter, every time we check-in on the North Shore it seems the Hawaiian archipelago is getting hammered with swell. Save, maybe, for a bit there during the Billabong Pipe Masters event window.

Earlier this week, as a pulse of sizeable North Pacific energy set its sights squarely on the Seven Mile Miracle, there were hopes it’d be enough to run the Eddie Aikau Invitational. The event even went on Yellow Alert. But sadly, the forecast didn’t pan out.

For anyone keeping their eyes on Pipeline, though, the Eddie swell that wasn’t absolutely maxed the place out – something that really has a way of thinning out the crowd.

Koa Rothman was among the brave few that decided to paddle out during the peak of the swell earlier this week and nabbed a few bombs.
