Koa Rothman opens his latest video looking out on Pipeline, making a bold claim. “It’s kind of reminding me of the first day of the Shootout,” he says. “That’s some of the best Pipe I’ve ever seen.”
Those conditions only looked like they’d improve, too. What’s more, the stars seemed to have aligned for one of the best (meaning most sparse) crowds you could have at firing Pipe.
“It’s so late in the season that no one’s even thinking about Pipe,” Rothman continued. “I just saw Jamie (O’Brien) drive away with a big sup squatch. He’s probably going to Sunset or somewhere. All the Florences are gone. Eli has a hurt ankle. Kiron (Jabour) is sick. I’m gonna be surfing by myself, right now.”
