The Inertia

Giel Vlugt has made his name pulling off the impossible. Known specifically for his big-air acrobatics, the Dutch kiteboarder has been a pro since he was 18, and is currently a team rider for Mystic. His claim to fame is pulling off the world’s first double kiteloop, a move many thought was unachievable, until it was actually accomplished. Recently, though, he filmed himself pulling off a very different kind of aerial stunt.

During a kiteboarding session, Vlugt spotted several whales ahead of him, and took the opportunity to jump over them, capturing incredible footage of the whole thing. “Can’t believe this happened!!” wrote Giel in the caption to his Instagram post, showing off the stunt.
