Kirra started 2022 off with a bang. It was the work of Cyclone Seth, as you might’ve seen, and it turned one of Australia’s most famous waves into the reason it’s so famous. It was basically perfect, and quite a bit bigger than we’re used to seeing.
Of course, since Australia is basically populated entirely by surfers — or at least it can feel that way — it was an exciting time. The lineup was jammed with surfers who know how to surf very well, and they were all anticipating just how good it was going to be. “Seth Watch” was on, starting the day after Christmas, and by the time the swell filled in, the waves were living up to the highest of expectations.
