The Inertia

Way back in the year 2000, Kelly Slater did something he doesn’t do often: he tow surfed at Maverick’s. It was, in fact, November 24, which (if you’re reading this on November 24, of course) is today. Towing has changed a lot since then and is generally reserved at Maverick’s for days that are simply too big to paddle, but back then, it was socially acceptable to tow into paddleable waves. So, along with Jeff Clark and a local crew, Slater spent a sunny day playing at California’s most famous big wave.
