If it has the name Kelly Slater, then I’m clicking on it. Be it a five-second surf clip, a feature film, or a blurb in a magazine, if it’s about the GOAT then it’s worth reading or watching.
After dominating the CT for the better part of three decades, it might seem like there wouldn’t be much undiscovered content left about Slater. But the World Surf League in partnership with Outerknown just dropped a free documentary series all about Mr. Slater entitled the “Lost Tapes.”
The premiere episode follows Slater as he prepares for the 2019 WSL Championship Tour. His goal: to win his twelfth world title. During a stint on the Gold Coast prior to the start of the season, Slater works to fuel his body and mindset to prepare for the year ahead. Kelly Slater is, of course, the greatest surfer and competitor of all time, and this documentary might give us more insight on his life than we had before. We’ll see.
