The Inertia

According to a report by CoastalWatch, Kelly Slater suffered a foot injury while surfing at Cloudbreak, Fiji over the weekend. The injury could have meant the end of his 2014 World Title race as Slater stressed a bone on top of his foot while shooting with a Virtual Reality 360 degree camera. The Slater camp, however, doesn’t seem stressed. In response to an Instagram post by Surfing World, which suggested Kelly may be out of the race, the 11-time World Champ replied:

“I heard that’s a rumor. #NotTrue on the title race but foot is hurt.”

The extent of the injury is unknown. But given Slater’s super-human abilities, it wouldn’t be unimaginable to see him come out guns blazing at the Pipe Masters.

Stay tuned for updates as they’re available.
