The Inertia

Kelly Slater has seen and done a lot in his life. Surfed all the best waves. Traveled the world. Fame, fortune, Baywatch, etcetera. He’s got 11 world titles, is widely known as the GOAT, and he’s a scratch golfer. It’s disgusting, really. But with all that life experience, he’s got answers. Answers to very important questions. Questions posed for Wired‘s Tech Support segment.

You, core lord that you are, likely know the answers to many of these questions. Questions like, “Who gets to decide who takes a wave first?” and “How do surfers get hurt?” and “What’s the biggest wave Kelly has ever seen?” and “Do surfers wear sunscreen?” and most importantly, “Do they wear life jackets?” Kelly Slater kindly walked the non-core lords through the intricacies of riding a piece of foam on top of a sloped lump of moving water.
