Nathan Fletcher and Kelly Slater have known each other for a long, long time. They’re both of the same generation, but occupy very different sides of the surfing coin. They recently sat down together for a chat, and it was a chat that lasted a while, to say the least. The episode of Fletcher’s new video podcast you see here is just one part of five.
In episode one, Nathan Fletcher: Live and Direct, Slater and Fletcher covered a lot of ground.
“The old friends discuss Kelly retiring from the world tour,” the description reads, “becoming a new father, corked-out airs vs. straight airs, new-wave creating ideas, humble beginnings, future plans, artificial reefs, free energy, aliens, ancient civilizations, and more.”
It’s an interesting conversation, to say the least. While this installment focusses mainly on what the future holds for Kelly, the later episodes delve into the good stuff, like Slater’s thoughts on aliens.
The conversation begins with Fletcher taking some time to talk about his thoughts on growing up watching and surfing with Kelly, and it’s clear that despite his standing in the surf sphere, Fletcher holds his old friend in the highest esteem.
