The Inertia

Kai Lenny certainly made the world sit up and take notice when Ma’alaea turned up the volume in July. Known as “the fastest right in the world,” Freight Trains barely ever works. But when it does… well, watch out.

“The last time Ma’alaea broke like this was 2005, 17 years ago when I was 13 years old,” Lenny wrote on YouTube. “It was a dream come true to surf this wave that has to be one of the best in the world.”

Lenny went so far as to call it “the best swell of all time,” and after watching the glut of footage surrounding it, we’d be hard pressed to disagree.
